Tuesday update

Tuesday night update: Elsa has attempted to come of the oxygen three times in the last 24 hours. Her blood oxygen level decreases immediately to 80-84%. So even though she's getting a very small amount, she still needs it. Normal levels are close to 100%. So....we wait.

Elsa is now on 0.1 liters of oxygen which is the smallest amount of oxygen there is to be on. However when the nasal cannula is taken away the oxygen saturation decreased and her heart rate increased therefore telling us she still needs the small amount.

Nursing is going well and she is still getting respiratory treatments. Elsa has been sleeping good here and even got a bath! I think there was cheese growing on her neck; she was way overdue for a good cleaning. Elsa weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz today, only down from 9#2 on Thursday and 9#1 on Friday when we were admitted.

I'm settling in a little better here but there are way too many different people around. In the ICU we had beds assigned to Froedtert so now that we get the medical college staff there are all sorts of residents, fellows, nurses, therapists, etc. that come in to see here. Crazy!

We have the tape off her face for a little while. You can see her cheeks are red from the residue. I hope for another good night with a few hours of shut eye and then we'll see what Wednesday brings!

I'm so sorry about this, Erica! Poor little thing. Hope she's back to 100% soon.
