Ok, I'm not one to vent on blogs, but this is borderline insane. Yes, it's 12:29AM and that is WAY past my bedtime. Why might you ask am I blogging at this hour, it's because I am now wide awake no thanks to Miss Charlotte. She's slowly falling asleep now. Every 90 seconds she's quiet I think this is it, she's asleep, then, she scream some more. She's not just crying, she's screaming. For two hours, that's 120 minutes! Ear plugs don't work, I'm tossing and turning, and now, I'm wide awake and it's NOT morning.
She slept solid through the last two nights. Why, when I'm home alone, did she have to pick tonight?! It's actually better that Kevin's gone. He doesn't do well with this evening's scenario either. I'm only complaining a little. She's been a fairly good sleeper since the beginning (compared to some I've heard about). But, I still sincerely hope that this next one is an even better sleeper.
'Cause when mama's not happy, ain't nobody happy. And right now, I'm not happy.
P.S. It's been 5 minutes since she's made a peep, think she's asleep? Golly I sure hope so...maybe I should have started blogging like 90 minutes ago.

blueberry bread
This is one of our favorite recipes! We love the taste of this fluffy bread. It's really easy to make and is great for a Sunday morning breakfast with coffee. Enjoy! (I generally leave out the nuts, but it would probably be wonderful with them in.)
Ingredients
2 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Mix together beaten eggs with the sugar. Add milk and melted shortening or vegetable oil.
Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Combine mixtures, stirring only until blended. Carefully fold in fresh or frozen blueberries and broken walnut pieces.
Pour into greased 5 x 12 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes. Cool in pan but try to turn it out of pan before it is totally cool. It will be easier to remove.
Enjoy!

checkbook covers
Thanks to crazymomquilts I have a short, easy project to share. Checkbook covers. These are the second and third ones I've made and they have turned out perfect each time. The tutorial can be found in the link above. Enjoy!
This is what I did today while Charlotte was napping. Yeah, I should have been doing other things, but these are cute...

vist to g'pa and g'ma lapean
This past weekend we drove to Green Bay to visit Grandma and Grandpa LaPean. We had wonderful weather and had lots of time to enjoy the outdoors. On Saturday we went to the NEW Zoo just outside of Green Bay. Charlotte had a great time and got nice and tired out from walking around. It sure was warm out!
Later in the afternoon we tried taking her swimming but I think it was a little too cold out. She would not get in the water and cried big fat tears. We'll have to save that activity for another visit (along with a visit to Bay Beach). Grandpa and Dad took Charlotte for a ride in the new ATV. I think she really enjoyed it. Yes, she had a seatbelt on. And yes, they stayed REALLY close by.

what a fun kid!
Charlotte is a hoot! Yesterday, we were finishing dinner in the kitchen and Charlotte was running around. All of a sudden she was pulling on her shirt and lifting it up over her head. It was then I realized I had her shirt on backwards. Opps! Anyways, she was just giggling up a storm doing this over and over. I think the photo shows how much fun she was having.
On another note, she's finally eating canned peas and carrots for me, a V-E-G-E-T-A-B-L-E! She hasn't eaten veggies in months! I think we are making progress.
We also got these mini-animals for her and she loves them. She recognizes a lot of them like the zebra, cat, dog, bear, lion, rabbit, horse, etc. She can even make the proper sound for most of them. I guess mom and dad do have a little influence on her! Charlotte continues to LOVE books and wants to read all the time. She has an ABC book that is currently her favorite, courtesy of mama and Shutterfly. We love this kid!

matching mini pillowcases
Today I found a fun, addicting project. Pillowcases! We have these two mini-pillows that desperately needed pillowcases. They are Charlotte size so I thought I'd make them to match her new quilt. You can find the tutorial here. They turned out SO CUTE! Here's a photo. You could make them any size you want. Have fun!

uh, oh!
So, this afternoon marks Charlotte's FIRST BIG NON-EMERGENY ACCIDENT. She tripped in the living room and fell face (mouth) first into the coffee table. Yes, she was a bloody mess. I'm fairly certain she hit her teeth. Her gums were bleeding really bad and her lips appeared to be fine. I whisked her up and into the bathroom, my shirt had lots of blood on it. We called the physician (who we see Wednesday morning for her 15 month check-up) and they said she would be fine. I rocked her to calm her down for about 45 minutes. She was a cuddly little bug. I felt SOO bad for her. She has a fat lip most definitely. Send virtual hugs for her please.
we finally took her canoeing
This weekend was a good one! Saturday morning we went to Pike Lake with Gma/Gpa Horstmeyer and Uncle Billy. The two dogs came along too. It was perfect weather AND there were hardly any people there! The sun was warm but it wasn't humid at all. A wonderful day and we got lots of needed sun, except Charlotte, she was wearing SPF 50.
Charlotte loved going in the water until I put her in the floaty hippo. The water was a little chilly and it came up to her neck, but after awhile, she was ok with it. Not super thrilled, but we were in the water for like 20 minutes floating around.
At the end of the day we decided we really needed to get her in the canoe. I sat in the middle with her and let her stand so she could see over the edge. From what I could tell, she really like it! We'll have to do that more often. I think once I can trust she'll sit in the middle alone, we can venture onto the rivers or something. It's just too hard to sit (and not paddle) in the middle and hold the kid.
