sweater hat
Thanks to J.Crew, my friend Dana and a blog, Charlotte has a new spring hat! I made this (very simple!) from an old sweater that didn't fit anymore. I am going to attempt to put a cute flower on the hat. That may or may not be successful.

yes, they will fall
Yesterday, Charlotte was by Griffin while he was eating dinner. She was walking around and standing near the brown glass cabinet in the kitchen. Well, she must have tripped or slipped because she fell, and this time, hard. She hit her forehead on the cabinet, but like the edge or something. There was an actual DENT in her forehead. We felt so bad. I tried putting a bag of frozen veggies on her forehead, but she just laughed and pushed it away. It must not have hurt too bad because she didn't cry for too long.
Kevin and I expected to see a huge black and blue bump on her forehead in the morning, but there was hardly anything! The dent is so faint you can hardly see it. So, I guess she's a resilient little thing that will bounce back at anything!

oh no, i've found a new potential obsession
A side note from Charlotte's daily doings, I have found a potentially dangerous website: http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com
As some of you may know, I love projects when I can think of one. The only huge problem is, when I start a project, I work on it ALL THE TIME until the project is completed. This means, I work until the wee-hours in the morning until I'm falling asleep in my own lap.
This quilting blog is just fantastic. This woman, AmandaJean, also a mom, did a fantastic job blogging about her quilting for the past few years. She also includes many tutorials (which I desperately need). I have never truly learned how to quilt the "right" way. Well, now's my chance. Between this blog, another resource and a book, I'm going to start quilting! Luckily, there is a cabin up north in our future that will need quilts for the many beds.
I have already started a quilt. I have 57 squares cut out and I'll start sewing them together quite soon. It is a ragged edges quilt, so the finished product will look very worn in. Perfect for the back woods.
So, even though Charlotte is the main concern in this blog, you will also be getting a few project updates. My goal is to work slowly on any new projects. I am getting better as I had lots of practice with my "Charlotte" project. Her book and movie had to wait a WHOLE YEAR to complete (because of course, she had to be ONE).
Enjoy!

counting teeth
Bottom teeth: 2 1/2
Top: 2
If you peek at her gums, there is another tooth coming up on the bottom left AND top left. No wonder Charlotte has been so crabby lately, those teeth have to be buggin' her a lot!
I'm sure we've mentioned already; Charlotte is walking! Yes, walking! She is walking around the whole house, in and out of rooms. Even with socks on the wood floor she's able to keep her balance. Today I was folding laundry in the bedroom. Charlotte left with her bunny, walked into the kitchen and came back into the bedroom with the letter "Q" from the refrigerator. Not sure what she though I was going to do with it, but she was quite pleased with herself. Griffin isn't sure what to think. All he knows is she's fair game now. Charlotte's been pushed into the wall a few times. Eventually she'll learn to push back.
Here's a video from a few days ago. Believe it or not, she is WAY steadier than this video shows.

parks are fun
It has finally gotten warm enough to not only go outside, but to visit the park! Charlotte and mom went twice this week to test out the swings. Turns out, Charlotte loves them! After getting practice this winter at G'ma's house, she is not afraid to go up high and loves it when mom makes faces at her and grabs her legs. We even walked around a little bit on the woodchips and went down the slide. The little slide Charlotte was able to go down alone with mom REALLY close by and ready to catch. I know this is going to be a fun summer! It's just too bad they don't allow dogs at the park. To make me choose! Poor Griffin...

grandmas galore
This week Charlotte got TWO grandmas. Elaine was here on Monday to play and Barbara was here on Thursday. Charlotte had so much fun and got to also go on TWO walks. Luckily, we've had some fantastic weather that will finally allow a little girl to ride in a stroller.
Her 4th and 5th teeth are very visible. I wouldn't say they are totally in yet, but she's feeling the affects. Today she napped only 45 minutes! Compared to 2 hours and 45 minutes yesterday. With a little Motrin, she was very cuddly and ready for an early bed. What a sweet pea we have.

baby signs
Charlotte is finally starting to catch on. Today and yesterday she made the baby sign for "milk" "all done" "eat" and "more." Sometimes she even verbally says "all done." With this new improvement, hopefully we'll start to understand what she wants and be able to give it to her when she's crying. She usually does the sign if you "ask" her with the particular sign. She'll mimic it if that's what she wants. Danny, I hope you are proud!

i spy with my little eye, another tooth
We have spotted a 4th tooth. One of the bottom teeth has poked through the skin, it will be completely up in a week I'd think. They second top tooth is still in the gum, that one is taking a long time to come down.

1 year photo shoot
Here are two photos from Charlotte's photo shoot, just a sneak peak. We will have the photos uploaded to http://www.flickr.com/photos/erikaoline sometime next week. A fellow Mom friend, Abbey Krummel, http://www.akrummelphotography.com took the photos. We were so happy with the results. Charlotte looks adorable, as she always is.
