Charlotte goes swimming (sort of).

Today Charlotte went swimming for the first time at Uncle Billy's house on Pewaukee Lake. Ok, it wasn't really swimming. She just got her toes wet. It was the end of the day and the water was getting cool. Charlotte didn't make any peeps when she hit the water-- daddy was being nice. We think she's going to love being in lakes, just like daddy does. Who knows, next summer, maybe it will be the canoe!

Congrats to Jason and Maria!

Maria and Jason, our friends in South Carolina, Kevin's friend from college, welcomed their baby daughter to the world at 9:40am. Carmen Sofia was 3 weeks early and 6 pounds 13 ounces and 20 inches. Mom and baby are healthy and doing great. Jason missed the birth by 30 minutes becuase he was out-of-town, but Erin was available and stepped right in. We can't wait to hear all about Carmen Sofia!

charlotte rolled over!

Last night Charlotte rolled over from her belly to her back! All of us were on the floor having tummy time and we almost missed it. Turned around and just caught her rolling over! We tried to get her to do it again to get it on tape, but no luck. Stay tuned! We'll catch it sooner or later.

daddy's magic touch

Charlotte is quite the little girl! She is really developing a personality and is starting to learn cause and effect. Last night mommy went out for a bit and daddy spent time alone with Charlotte. She had an entire bottle with no fussing and went right to bed for him. It was a treat to come home to a quiet house. I might have to think about leaving more often!

This video is totally worth watching.

This is Charlotte 'pretending' to be upset about something. Gotta love her!

Charlotte constantly has her fingers in her mouth. I really think she's going to get teeth a little early. She's also been chewing on her tongue and sticking it out. She was practicing motor-boat sounds with daddy the other day. If you stick out your tongue and make noises, she copies! It's adorable.

free entertainment

As Miss Charlotte gets older, playtime becomes a lot more fun! Here she is in the rainforest bouncy chair. She loves the moving waterfall and the tucan. Now when she's playing, she grabs her pants to try and help herself sit up. She also grabs the tucan or monkey to pull on them. This little one no longer wants to be laying down! One of these days she'll be sitting up on her own. She's getting close to rolling over, from tummy to back and back to tummy. With a little more practice, she'll get it down.

big girl crib

Daddy finished the crib last week. Monday was the first night Charlotte slept in her big girl crib in her own room. I might add, she slept like a rock. I have had a few problems actually getting her to fall asleep around 6 p.m. so tonight we are going to try going for a walk after dinner and taking a bath. The good news is, once she's asleep she's one happy little girl!

We also drove to Iowa last weekend for Bobby Jurkowski's wedding. It was beautiful and the weather was nice. Charlotte did great in the car, as we expected. However, the wedding ceremony happened to take place during a very crucial nap. Yes, I sat in the cry room at church for most of the ceremony. Finally she fell asleep and was an angel. The reception was good. Charlotte slept though most of that as well. G'ma LaPean rocked her during dinner and dancing. The little girl was just tired!

Kevin and I just planned a car camping trip to Door County with G'pa and G'ma LaPean in August. I'm sure Charlotte will be a natural at it!

day at the beach

Today Charlotte, Griffin and I went to Doctor's Park in Fox Point. It was a pretty warm morning and I thought we'd have a good time and Griffin could do a little swimming. Generally it is cooler at the lake so I dressed a little warmer, but I ended up being too warm. I carted around a chair, the dog, jogging stroller and a lawn chair. It was a pain! Too much to do on your own. When we got to the beach it was very dirty and there was a sign that said NO DOGS! Crap... we went anyways. Griffin had a good time. Charlotte fussed a little, but I didn't want to take her out of the stroller because it was sunny and I forgot her hat. I don't think we'll be doing an outing like that on our own anymore. We might have to find a different park we can take Griffin to.
