string bean with puggy cheeks

Charlotte is growing so big! I measured her today and she is 24 1/4 inches long. She has definitely moved into the 3 month and 3-6 month clothes. Every time I open the closet I find yet another cute outfit that she'll fit into. Most of the outfits are fairly big in the chest but her toes are right where they are supposed to be! She is going to be one tall girl.

We have tried giving her a bottle the last two nights. She took 1 oz. yesterday but wasn't happy about it. Tonight we tried 1 oz. again and it was a very traumatic experience for her. Her preference is great for our breastfeeding, but if she won't take a bottle, she'll be attached to me, literally!

Other than feeding, Charlotte is still sleeping through the nights. During the day she naps a lot but is also very alert and happy. We love playing Patty-Cake and singing other nursery rhymes. (She doesn't know I can't carry a tune.) It is a joy to be around her. I can't believe she's going on week 13 and soon month four!

no, THIS is what i prefer

Grandma LaPean spent the day with Charlotte, which was great for mommy. It was a hot one, so Charlotte finally got to wear a summertime outfit. In order to clean up a few things, I stopped in at work for a few hours. Grandma was spending the afternoon with Griffin and Charlotte, like she has on occasion. I put a few bottles in the fridge...but Charlotte would have none of that. Miss Fussy Pants decided she did NOT want to eat out of a bottle. We haven't had this problem before! Apparently, since daddy no longer gives her a bottle each night, she has decided she doesn't care for it anymore. Charlotte is still sleeping around 7-8 hours so mommy doesn't have to go to bed early anymore.

Poor Grandma had a really rough time feeding her. Finally, when daddy came home for lunch, they got it figured out.

Sometimes, it's a good thing she's so darn cute...

Welcome Baby Alexa Wuebben!

Kersten and Kent Wuebben welcomed Baby Alexa Lynn Wuebben to the world on Friday, May 15 at 7:10pm. She was around 6 pounds and about two weeks early. Mom and Baby are doing good. We can't wait to meet the new addition to the family. We just know Alexa and Charlotte are going to be best friends...soon enough they will be digging for worms in the backyard.

Happy, happy, joy, joy

We are starting week 11! It's hard to believe. Everything is going great around here. Now that the weather is nice, we have been getting outside to do some yard work. I'm also working hard at trying to jog everyday. Luckily, Charlotte loves going for walks in the stroller.
She has been so smiley lately. Daddy just loves making her laugh. This weekend we are traveling to Green Bay for Godmother Laura's bridal shower. I'm sure Charlotte will enjoy seeing Grandma LaPean again.

Mother's Day was very nice at our home. Daddy surprised me with two ADORABLE cards. Yes, I cried. The two of them got me some new gardening tools as well. Kevin and I are so blessed with this baby girl. I am most thankful for the opportunity to stay home and watch her grow, minute by minute.

bouncing off the charts

On Tuesday, Daddy and I took Charlotte to her two month doctor's visit (although she was 9 weeks). Like always, she was a good little girl. She weighed 11.97 oz. (75th percentile) and was 23.5 (95th percentile) inches long. There's a GREAT chance she is going to be TALL!! Charlotte is healthy and growing very well. After the doctor left the room, the nurse came in to give Charlotte her first set of vaccinations. She wailed and it broke my heart. She got three shots in her chubby thighs. After I calmed her down we stopped at Walgreens to get infant Tylenol. They said I could give her some as a preventative measure, so I did. She sucked the cherry stuff right down. Then she slept most of the day, on me...Since then, we've had no problems which is good. I suspect shots are only going to get harder.

sleeping like a baby

On Thursday night Charlotte surprised the two of us by sleeping through the entire night! Daddy put her to bed around 9:30pm and she woke up at 5:00am. You can imagine how surprised I was when I squinted at the clock and realized it was already time to start the day. Not getting my hopes up, I was patiently waiting to see how she would sleep on Friday night. And, Charlotte slept 7 hours straight, waking up at 4:40am. This I can handle. We woke up, nursed, made coffee, made muffins, and let Griffin outside. Now we just have to wait for Daddy to wake up.

I think Charlotte has been sleeping so well at night because she is so darn active and happy during the day. She is really tiring herself out. The only bad part of this whole equation is that Charlotte is SUPER fussy around 6-8pm because she is over-tired. But we have managed to find ways to calm her down and get her ready for bed. I sure hope that this sleeping pattern continues!
