2 days overdue!

For those of you who are dying to know...Baby LaPean is still not out. I am going on two days overdue and it is driving me crazy. Mainly, the sitting around and waiting is what's so torturous.

If you are reading this, please pray for me. Pray that Baby LaPean comes today or tomorrow!!

Week 40!!

I am 40 weeks pregnant and loving it! Actually, more like "get this baby out of me!" I saw my doctor this morning and nothing has changed. Still about 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated. However, the baby is definitely engaged. This means that the head is sitting nice and low. If you could see my belly right now you'll notice it has totally changed shape. My belly is sitting extremely low and wide because of baby's positioning. This is good and a great start to hopefully a great weekend. Dr. Lipinski is thinking it should happen naturally, probably later in the week. Keep your fingers crossed for me and pray when you go to church on Ash Wednesday.

Just in case, I have another appointment in one week, March 3. In the morning she will check me out and then have me induced around 8pm on Tuesday night, thus having baby next Wednesday. I hope it doesn't come to that, but I guess I can wait one more week. The worst part of waiting is the sitting around. My last day of work was yesterday so now, Griffin and I walk at home and watch a lot of TV. The house is clean and shelves are stocked. I also know that I need to rest and reserve my energy.

As the old wives say, maybe the change in pressure we are expecting on Thursday will give me that push I need to start labor!

probably the last belly photo - Week 39

This is probably the last belly photo of Baby LaPean. As you can see, it's getting rather huge. Not to my surprise, my belly button still hasn't popped out and I really don't think it will.

one week and counting

I have one week to go! Baby is due next Wednesday, February 25th (the first day of Lent). More good news, the rash is much better than it was. Still present, but very tolerable. I can hardly notice it and don't itch a whole lot any more.

I saw my doctor this morning and I'm 1 cm dilated and still 50% effaced. She seems to think that baby will happen naturally sometime next week. She also has off this weekend, so I definitely want to wait until next week sometime otherwise I'll have a different doctor to deliver Baby LaPean. My guess is sometime between Monday and Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

It's fun talking with our families as we all wait in anticipation. Getting schedules cleared and cameras ready, everyone seems very excited to welcome this new little package to the family. Kevin is holding up very good. Every time I sneeze or sigh he quickly asks if I'm ok (knowing that one of these times I'll announce I've started contractions). Until then, we wait...

baby crib in the making

Kevin spent this afternoon working on the baby crib. The ends are complete and the slats are cut to size. It looks fantastic, I can't wait to see the final product.

yes, i can do it!

By now I have just under two weeks left and I am uncomfortable and still itchy. Borderline miserable. They wern't kidding when they said the last few weeks are awkward. In addition, I can hardly sit anywhere anymore. The car ride is my worst enemy. My back is killing me.

My doctor prescribed me Prednisone. I haven't seen any effects yet, but I'm hoping another day or so it will help clear things up. My rash is creeping up my legs and it's on my hands and wrists. I've also started to notice a bit more swelling... I feel like I hardly have ankle bones.

I guess, overall, things are still good. Baby is moving, but the movements are much smaller as there really isn't a lot of room left in my belly. Hopefully soon we will have good news to share, until then, pray for me and my itchy skin!

doctor's visit: week 38

Today was another doctor's visit and boy was I glad to get in there. There is something reassuring about getting updates, especially this far along in the game. I found out that I am 50% effaced. How exciting! Finally, something is going on with Baby LaPean. I'm not dilated at all though...but in time. I see my doctor again next Tuesday.

As for my rash... she said I can still use the topical treatments. She thought it was PUPPPs (pregnancy rash) but it's not on my belly at all. I told her my nights are torture because my feet itch soooo bad. To remedy that, I can take one Benadryl so that I may sleep in peace. I'll have to check in with her on Friday and if it's not getting better, they will give me a low dose of oral steroid.

Other than the rash that's eating my feet, I am feeling good. Still getting bigger, it's hard to believe. Only two weeks to go. I just keep telling myself I can do this. It's easier than the 400M hurdles after doing 5 events!!

the itch factor

Should I be happy that I finally have something to complain about with this pregnancy? On my way home from work (driving of course) on Thursday, my feet started itching like mad! Wouldn't you know, I have hives on the tops of my feet and hands. Kevin did some research, and apparently, hives are common during the last month of pregnancy due to all the hormones being released into the skin. Well, it's driving me mad! The worst part is, I can only use topical treatments.

Common Baby LaPean...what are you trying to prove?! Don't drive mommy mad before you come out!

doctor's appointment: week 37

Today's appointment was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing. Nothing has really changed. I'm one pound heavier and belly is still big. No signs of labor yet!

Beginning Week 37: Starting Full-Term Pregnancy

This week marks a full-term pregnancy. I suppose I could pop any day now, but I have a feeling I'll be near my due date, February 25. Things are still a bit uncomfortable. Honestly, I thought people were wimps talking about how terrible the last month of pregnancy is. Truth be told, I can hardly tie my shoes or put on my socks. Sitting is also quite uncomfortable. I spend most of my day 'reclined' or laying on my side.

This weekend we traveled for the last time as single folks. A trip to Green Bay led us to meeting up with good friends of mine and Kevin's. We also visited soon-to-be Grandpa and Grandma LaPean. It was fun to show off the belly this late in the pregnancy. As you can see from the photo, it sticks straight out!
